Panama to be capital of Latin America - Spanish prince
Panama will become the real capital of Latin America in 2013 said Prince Felipe de Borbon at the Wednesday unveiling of a sculpture commemorating the discovery of the Pacific Ocean.
The sculpture, the work of Mark Lee, represents an an allegory of the name of Panama (abundance of fish and butterflies).
A countdown clock to mark the days, hours and minutes remaining before the September 25, 2013 anniversary of Vasco Nunez de Balboa’s discovery of the “South Sea” later renamed the Pacific Ocean, was also part of the unveiling ceremony attended by the Prince and his wife Princess Letizia, President Ricardo Martinelli, First lady Marta Linares de Martinelli and Archbishop Jose Domingo Ulloa.
