The president, Ricardo Martinelli Berrocal, began his visit to Germany as part of a tour, which seeks closer ties with the first power of the European Union (EU).
Martinelli will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and discuss several issues, including attracting investment in that European country to Panama.
"With this visit we hope to realize closer ties with the German government and high profile companies, so invest in our country and this is in the creation of new job places for Panamanians" said the president before heading to Germany.
In addition to meeting with Merkel, the president plans to meet with other high officials of the German state, as well as politicians and businessmen.
The president's agenda begins in the German capital, Berlin, where he will meet with the mayor of this city, with the Foreign Minister and Vice President of the German Parliament.
Martinelli, who is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Romulo Roux, for Canal Minister, Roberto Roy, and the administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority, Roberto Linares, also visit the cities of Hamburg and Mainz.
